It belongs to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and is managed by a Board of Trustees. Founded in1985, CNM is at present constituted by three Institutes: Instituto de Microelectrónica de Barcelona, CNM-IMB; Instituto de Microelectrónica de Madrid, CNM-IMM; and Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla, CNM-IMSE. Researchers and engineers develop process technologies focused toward microsystems, power devices and systems, chemical transducers, nanotechnologies, biomedical applications, and electronic design of IC and systems. CNM-IMB has a staff of approx. 130 people, about 80 of whom are researchers. They offer the following services to the related industry: Consulting & project management; Design & fabrication of small series; industrialisation through D+T microelectronics.
